• "2005 was our 9th visit to Bridge End.  The cottage, the village and the fells are just so wonderful – we have to keep coming back for more.  It is a place to recharge the batteries and to relax after a days walking and we are constantly impressed with the improvements and cleanliness.

• "I am writing to say how much Fiona and I enjoyed our week in Stanley Ghyll cottage. Thank you so much for getting the champagne in the fridge as I did not want to risk Fiona seeing any in the car. I managed to conceal the bottle until the Saturday morning when I proposed in the lovely mezzanine sitting room. Fiona cried out a resounding yes, and we subsequently polished off the champagne before taking a stroll over to Wastwater. The rest of the week was very special. The cottage was in a beautiful condition when we arrived and lovely and warm. We split our evenings between the cottage kitchen and also a couple of the local inns.  Despite some rain we watched the weather report closely and picked a fine day to get up Scafell Pike which was tremendous. Despite my fondness of and familiarity with the Lakes I had never actually been in Autumn before and was taken aback by the beautiful golds and reds that covered Eskdale during our stay. So thank you very much. The only complaint I have is that we enjoyed ourselves so much it was extremely painful to have to leave."
