"Just a quick note to say how much we enjoyed our stay at Whillan Beck Cottage last week. The setting was truly idyllic and the cottage extremely comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. All contact we had with Select Cottages – the office, housekeeper and gardener – was very friendly and helpful. This, combined with glorious weather and good walking conditions, made this holiday one of our best ever and we certainly hope to come back again in the not too distant future!"

"Thank you for the lovely stay in the Farmhouse on a recent trip to the Lake District. It was absolutely perfect for unwinding on a long overdue break. The cottage was beautiful- I'm known to be a real stickler for cleanliness and having my own things around me but felt completely at home as soon as I walked through the door. I was so impressed at the modern amenities while still maintaining the rustic decor; the bathrooms in particular are beautiful. Please also thank all the staff for their welcoming attitude. We will most certainly visit again in the future... if we're lucky enough to get the time! "

We managed to walk Scafell despite some snow and ice and also enjoyed a walk across to Wasdale Head and along the Esk to the waterfall at Stanley Ghyll. “I took my family to stay at Scafell Cottage in Boot from 24th to 31st October this year and we had the most wonderful holiday.  We all thought the cottage was absolutely stunning and so cosy and warm and exceptionally well equipped with everything needed to make our holiday even better. (Even to the lovely idea of providing two cuddly teddy bears on the twin beds for the two older children).   The weather on the first day was a 'bit to be desired' but we were so comfortable and cosy the rain didn't bother us one tiny bit. Even the three children of 7, 5 and 2 years of age were happy to stay in and play.  They thought the cottage was fabulous and want to go back next year. Bob the caretaker was very pleasant indeed and the pub in the village - well what can I say - we were never away!! You have done a beautiful job with those cottages Greg, the area is outstandingly lovely and the Ratty railway a real treat for the children.We will certainly want to come and stay again and thank you from my family and myself for making our holiday so relaxing.”

“Wow - what a wonderful weekend we had!! The most magical spot. We just loved it. We drove to Wastwater and climbed in the fells up there, stunning views and went to the Bower House Inn on the way back. We had a wonderful night at the Brook House Inn, what lovely people they were there - and lots of fun! Sunday we took the steam train to the sea and then had a lovely roast in the evening with all local produce. I can’t say it enough, we truly loved it. Thank you so much for everything you did to make it such a special weekend.”

“We stayed in Stanley Ghyll cottage in Boot for a week from May 27th this year. It was our honeymoon. The cottage was beautiful and the surrounding scenery was stunning. Everything was extremely well organised and we had a wonderful time. We feel extremely lucky to have stayed in such a fantastic place and we hope to return to Stanley Ghyll in the future.”
