Brace yourself as you enter the magnificent 45ft living area of this character 4 bedroom Lake District cottage perfect for families and groups of friends!

A remarkable restoration has resulted in this four bedroom cottage retaining fantastic, exposed, pink granite feature stonework throughout. Downstairs vaunts an enormous 45ft living and dining area with exposed beams and baby grand piano beneath its full height ceiling. During the original renovations, we had to bring in additional beams to the kitchen and dining areas, simply so that the weight of the heavy slate roof tiles could be supported. You will now see these criss-crossed above you! Upstairs, where the workers used to live, hundreds of years ago, exhibits an ancient chimney and its recess. With a brand new kitchen installed in early 2018 and two ground floor double bedrooms, one downstairs family bathroom and one ensuite shower room, this cottage is ideal for those guests who may require or prefer ground floor facilities.

"I must say we were thoroughly impressed with Wastwater Cottage and the whole set up in Boot. I have been recommending it to all my friends and I look forward to a return stay in the future."

When it comes to bedrooms and bathrooms, Wastwater Cottage most certainly has something to suit every individual! The upstairs snug has a single captains bed with pull out single mattress also underneath and full size cot. This bedroom also has an ensuite bathroom with bath. A second bedroom with twin beds lies across the landing and under the oak beam! Downstairs Wastwater has two double bedrooms with kingsize beds, which may suit the elderly or those with limited mobility. One of these bedrooms has a brand new ensuite wet room, which we added only a few months ago. There is also a main family shower room downstairs, so you won’t be queuing!

This cottage is named after Wastwater, England’s deepest lake. At its deepest point, it delves down 260ft, nearly 80m! Wastwater Lake lies in the neighbouring valley to Eskdale, Wasdale, which is a pleasant 5 mile walk over Esk Fell to our seven cottages near Wastwater. You will pass via our peat hut, the Neolithic and Bronze Age stone circles and the beautiful Burnmoor tarn, without having to endure a huge amount of climbing – we highly recommend this walk!

“This is just a quick note to say how much we enjoyed the two weeks in Wastwater - as good as ever. Please pass on our thanks to Bob and his staff as I meant to see him before we left but failed to do so. We did manage Scafell again this year on a fairly good but chilly day and did not see anyone from the moment we started on the route to Sleight Side to the moment we arrived back in Boot!”

"Thank you for making such a memorable stay.  The quality of Wastwater Cottage is exceptional, all the more a treat for Margaret who got to play the baby grand piano much to her delight.  Eskdale new to us is the perfect location and enabled us to explore both locally and as far as Scafell Pike and Helvellyn.  Wonderful scenery all around.  We couldn’t recommend the cottage highly enough."

Margaret & Harry

"Bridge End is a converted farm, with a range of small cottages, a large stand-alone farm cottage, and Wastwater Cottage, a large semi-detached cottage at the end of the row. It has an excellent open plan downstairs, including a piano, and opens out onto a large communal lawn, leading down to the Whillan Beck. It's a stunning place to stay in the Western Lakes, and an excellent base for walking, climbing, and visiting all the attractions in the area. The cottage has been well converted, with comfy beds, a good kitchen and dining/living area. When the weather is good, we spent all out time eating out in the garden. When it rained, we played the piano and sang. Overall, a perfect place to stay in the Lakes."

We have been in Wastwater cottage and some of the others a few times now both in Summer and Winter. The accommodation is fantastic and the location is breathtaking. Very clean and friendly. Good pubs very close by. We hope to return again later this year.
